Bar Screens for pumping stations
A reliable and compact automatic screening solution, designed to provide long-term protection for pumps and ensure safe operation of pumping stations.
In pumping stations, automatic bar screens are often set aside in favor of manual baskets, which are indeed less expensive. However, to effectively protect pumps, the automatic bar screen remains the most sustainable solution and significantly eases operators’ day-to-day work. Thus, in concrete or polyester pumping stations, whether rectangular or cylindrical, our so-called “gravity” bar screen technology is unrivaled. Why? This can be summarized by the following advantages:
- Upstream cleaning of the screen, which should be specified instead of downstream cleaning
- Discharge of screenings upstream and therefore outside the pumping station
- Significant buffer volume for screenings between the outlet of the incoming pipe and the screen
- Requires no more, or hardly more, space than a manual basket
- No civil engineering modifications required in most cases; mounted against a vertical wall, the self-supporting frame requires minimal supports
- Maintenance operations carried out exclusively from ground level (“Natural Ground” level)
- Cost-effective solution, as no specific upstream screening structure is required
An automatic bar screen, SG400 type, wall-mounted against the vertical wall of a concrete pumping station. The station extends 1,100 mm above “Natural Ground” level. The bar screen is fixed to the top of the station as well as to the vertical wall inside the station. No additional supports or civil engineering modifications are required. Screenings are discharged directly into a waste bin located outside the station.
An automatic bar screen, SG400 type, installed in a polyester pumping station extending 1,000 mm above “Natural Ground” level. No modifications to the station were required to install the bar screen. Only a metal support frame designed by FB Procédés takes up all the loads associated with the bar screen.
A lower bar screen frame installed inside a pumping station, facing the incoming effluent pipe. The bar screen takes up little more space than a manual basket and in no way prevents the lifting of pumps located downstream.
An automatic bar screen, NG21 type, installed in a circular concrete pumping station and combined with a VCP150 screw compactor. The bar screen is custom-designed and perfectly adapted to the station (depth and diameter). Installed facing the incoming pipe, it screens the effluent and effectively protects the pumps located downstream within the same station.
