Rotary Distributors for Trickling Filters

Optimized over more than 30 years, the technology of our rotary distributors for trickling filters is based on simplicity, efficiency, and reliability.

For more than 30 years, FB PROCÉDÉS has been designing, manufacturing, and installing rotary distributors for trickling filters, relying on the core values that have built our reputation: simplicity, efficiency, and reliability.

As each installation is unique, our rotary distributors are engineered and sized on a custom basis—according to the filter diameter, required flow rate, and hydraulic and structural constraints—to ensure uniform distribution of water over the media and optimal operation, whether for new projects or refurbishments.

Variable flow rate of rotary distributors for trickling filters

While ensuring excellent distribution, the rotary distributor flow rate can be variable, including over wide ranges, for example to meet seasonal requirements (such as handling peak tourist seasons), daily variations (managing reduced night-time flows), or to cope with evolving conditions in the medium and long term.

These flow rate variations are managed internally within the rotary distributors and automatically.

Top or bottom feed

All installation configurations are possible, with one or several effluent inlets from the top or from the bottom, or even both simultaneously in the case of a free-standing rotary distributor.

The rotary distributor, connected to a waiting flange, can either be set in place or suspended.

In suspended versions, the supporting beam structure is often supplied with the rotary distributor, allowing optimization of the fixation of the inlet piping.

Rotary distributor with or without motorization

Whether free-standing or suspended, rotary distributors can be motorized, allowing remote speed variation according to the desired hydraulic loading rate (Sk). Even motorized rotary distributors can revert to gravity operation in the event of electrical issues. This provides an absolute guarantee for the operator.

Uniform distribution

It is essential to achieve the most uniform distribution possible. Therefore, each distribution opening has a unique position, and the calculation of all openings is arranged across 2, 4, or 6 arms.

In the case of variable flow with a ratio greater than or equal to 2 and a 4-arm rotary distributor, and in order to ensure uniform distribution while maintaining good drive performance, an initial flow rate supplies only 2 arms, while a higher flow rate supplies all 4 arms. The transition from 2-arm to 4-arm feeding is carried out automatically via an adjustable threshold. This guarantees uniform distribution at all flow rates.
